The Perth food scene is highly regarded and most places are very aware of dietary requirements. You can find gluten free bakeries in Perth, north or south of the river, where you can fill your sweet or savoury treat cravings to your heart’s content. If you’re gluten intolerant, sensitive or celiac, I am sure you are craving a gluten free baked item, and I’ve got you covered for the best places in Perth to get your sweet treat fix. Located just south of the river in Burswood, Darringtons is a gluten free and vegan bakery that offers a variety of delicious products. Featuring an array of sweet pastries and cakes, and savoury treats such as gluten free vegan sausage rolls, pies and freshly baked bread all made in house. An amazing find for us who don’t eat gluten, they have delicious donuts with fillings such as traditional jam, custard and chocolate! They also have flaky croissants which I can’t believe are both vegan and gluten free!

Strange Grains Gluten Free Bakery

Strange Grains is a 100% gluten free bakery specialising in tasty gluten free bread that genuinely tastes like the real deal. This gluten free bread is my all time favourite, and they use all natural, minimal ingredients. The bread can be found in their bakery in Shenton Park, or at an array of IGA’s and other specialty stores across Perth. They also bake sweet treats, such as cookies, brownies, cakes, pastries and muffins.

If you fancy a drive out to the Swan Valley, Champagne and Gumboots is a must visit for delicious gluten free treats. The owner, Stacey, is gluten intolerant herself and set out to provide gluten free treats to make us non gluten eaters feel like we’re not missing out. They serve a range of gluten free slices, cakes, cookies (the red velvet one is to die for) and other treats. They also serve hot drinks in their cafe and you can sit down and enjoy your goodies. Once a month, they put on Devonshire teas with gluten free scones, jam and cream. Delicious!

Gluten Free 4 U has bakeries all over Australia, in Melbourne, Brisbane and most importantly, Perth. They specialise in gluten free items as well as soy, nut, egg, dairy free goods. You can conveniently purchase gluten free goodies online and they will ship them to your door! They have over 250 items to choose from. Not only do they sell baked goods such as cakes, pastries and savoury pies they also sell gluten free pasta, gluten free pasta sauce, an assortment of lollies and chocolate.

Prague Bakery is located in two places north of the river – Joondalup and Kingsley. Whilst it is not 100% gluten free, they do have a generous gluten free offering. I would say at least half of their shop is gluten free. They sell delicious cakes, croissants, savoury items such as gluten free pizza loaves of bread, pies and my favou, the iconic vanilla slice and gluten free Turkish bread. Before I found Prague Bakery, I never thought I’d have Turkish bread again!!

Panna Artisan Bakery & Patisserie

Panna Artisan Bakery is a gluten free bakery located south of the river in Palmyra. They specialise in sourdough bread with slow fermentation which ensures delicious gluten free breads. In addition to sourdough, they have crusty Italian bread, panini rolls and baguettes. Their breads are natural and free from emulsifiers, allergens, gums and additives and are mostly organic. They also have a variety of sweet pastries and cakes (cinnamon scroll anyone?).

G-Free Donuts are a market stall that provides the people of Perth with 100% gluten free donuts. The donuts are always fresh and made to order. Crunch on the outside and soft and pillowy on the inside, you wouldn’t know these are not the gluten version! You can also opt for a filling such as custard or Nutella. They can be found at multiple locations across Perth: Subiaco Farmers Market, Mt Claremont Farmers Market on Saturdays, Perth Home Grown Market on Sundays and Fremantle Markets on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
